The Frozen Sea

He's gay but finds gay men boring.
Living in a city, in a
Seaway of chest hair and buzz cuts,
Bow ties and calves—one could blame him
But does not in a shared spirit
Of misandry. What he likes best
Are the innocent flirtations
With straight friends from his college years.
His preference is a cocktail
One part aesthetics, he likes
The trust of beautiful women;
Two parts ethics, that we should touch
Each other the way children touch;
And a dash of self-denial poured
Over a large, dry block of ice.
